About Jambi

Jambi is a province of Indonesia. It is located on the east coast of central Sumatra and its capital is Jambi.Geographicaly, Jambi Province is located between 0º45' - 2º45' South Latitude and between 101º0'- 104º55' East Longitude consit of 8 Regency and 2 Town with total citizen 2.568.548 persons based on census 2003. Jambi Province Region covered an area of 53,435.72 Km2 and 185 km long costline. 




At early begin, before Indonesia colonized by the Dutch colonial Jambi was a part of well-established of Srivijayan Kingdom. Srivijayan kingdom was an ancient Malay kingdom in Sumatra. The people in Jambi is dominated by the ethnic of Malay with the group of Kerinci and Minangkabau.



From ovember until March are rainy season in Jambi Province and dry season beginning in May until October with average of rainfall 1900-3200 mm/year and average day of rainfall 116-154 day/year.

With tropical climate, the highest rainfall ranges from 2,000 mm to 3,000 mm per year with the highest falls in January. Temperature differences between day and night are small. The highest temperature is 33ºC (91ºF), except in the hilly and mountainous areas, including Kerinci, where it reaches 21ºC (68ºF). Humidity varies from 75% to 90%.
